The decision of the normalization committee in consultation with club owners not to enter any Ghanaian clubs in Africa this season has divided opinion in the country but Ashanti Gold S.C says the club was in a position to compete in Africa this season.
The Miners led the league standings on 27 points after the first round.
Meanwhile Asante Kotoko have also petitioned the normalization committee to allow them represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup..
But Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold S.C Fredrick Acheampong has stated the club were ready to participate in the continental competition but had to withdraw their interest because of the decision taken by the normalisation committee and the club owners.
“For Ashanti Gold as a football club we are very much prepared to represent Ghana in Africa.
“In terms of materials we have them, we thought we are a very good side and financially we are very strong.
“But we cannot act in isolation since it is a decision of the entire meeting and we might have to accept (the decision)” he told Luv FM.
