The Premier League Board has expressed its shock at events that caused the abrupt end of the match day eight, Ghana Premier League fixture between Elmina Sharks and Medeama at the Nduom Stadium on Wednesday.

The league body said: “The circumstances which led to the injury to centre referee, Nuhu Liman and subsequent end to the game, were “unfortunate” as it condemned unreservedly what it termed as a “sad development”.

The official reports on the incident at Elmina, the PLB added, have been received and forwarded to the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee.

The PLB warned that, it will not tolerate “despicable attacks on match officials” at match venues.

“The GFA/PLB does not, and will not countenance such acts, which do not only bring the game into disrepute, but also place lives in great danger. We wish to remind all stakeholders of their duty to protect the sanctity of the game by conducting themselves in a responsible manner” it ended.

Meanwhile, Elmina Sharks have said in a statement that, the referee “tripped and fell” but the Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana, Joe Debrah told Okokroko FM in Cape Coast that, Referee Liman was stoned.
