Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez, is refusing to talk about the club’s stance on Chelsea winger Christian Atsu ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Ghanaian who is on loan at the Tynecastle side has helped them secure promotion to the Premier with the Magpies said to be interested in signing him.
Already, the Magpies have the option to make the player’s move permanent for just £6.5 million, though the club’s gaffer Rafa Benitez is mute on any development.
The winger opened the scoring in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Cardiff City on Friday night, and Benitez was asked if that performance was enough for the club to keep the player permanently. The Spanish manager responded with the fact that a single good performance cannot influence a club’s long term decision.
According to him several of their players have performed well during the close of the season, and they would be making decisions on each player’s future based on their overall performance.
Atsu has netted five goals and provided three assists in all competitions for New Castle this season.
