The US National Senior Men’s Soccer Team has confirmed a friendly game with the Black Stars of Ghana.

The game which is slated for July, 1, 2017 was confirmed by the American Soccer Federation on Tuesday.

This friendly will serve as part of the US build-up to the CONCACAF Gold Cup to be played from 7th-26th July, 2017 whilst it will also be a preparatory game for the Black Stars as the World Cup qualifiers resumes.

The game will be played at the 41,000-capacity Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut

US head coach Bruce Arena noted in a statement to the media that the friendly is a reality check for his charges as far as preparations for the Gold Cup are concerned;

“Ghana is certainly a team that brings different challenges, and it’s the type of competition we need as we continue to develop our program.” Arena stated

“Winning the Gold Cup is one of our priorities in 2017, so this is an important opportunity.”

“We’ve always had great support in Hartford, and look forward to more of the same this summer.”

Ghana’s last encounter with USA was during the 2014 World Cup where the Yankees won 2-1.
