At the start of the second half, Otto Addo made three changes with Andy Yiadom, Kofi Kyereh and Elisha Owusu coming on in place of Fatawu Issahaku, Iddrisu Baba and Jordan Ayew.
Augustine Eguavoen also made one change with Abdullai Sheihu replacing Frank Onyeku at right back.
The Super Eagles began the half in search of the elusive second goal while Ghana were more than happy passing the ball around.
The Black Stars kept it very tight at the back and relied heavily on counter attacks.
A strategy that proved very effective in frustrating the Nigerians and ensuring Ghana held on to make it to their fourth World Cup.
The four-time African champions will make a return to the global showpiece later this year after missing the 2018 edition in Russia.
