Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi has apologised to the fans for his howler in their FA Cup win over Elmina Sharks on Sunday.
Ayi was saved by Kofi Kordzie’s injury time strike who scored the equalizer after his howler gifted Elmina Sharks the lead with less than 15 minutes to end the game.
A feeble shot from Ismael Antwi slipped through his fingers to put the visitors ahead in the second half.
The goalkeeper took his social media page to apologize for his howler.
“My sincere apologies to the Oak family. I thank everyone for the support and prayers, the gifts I really appreciate it all.”
Richmond Ayi, whose howler gave Elmina Sharks a 2-1 lead during regulation time, delivered heroic saves for the Phobians, making as many as four (4) saves from the spot kick.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh converted the 8th kick for Hearts of Oak and Sharks missed theirs, giving the defending Champions the chance to continue their quest to defend the title.
