Former Minster for Youth and Sports Hon Nii Lantey Vanderpuye looks set to play an effective watchdog role in the sector he once controlled as his successor gets ready to take office.
This follows remarks made by the MP for Ododiodoo during the vetting process of incoming sports minister Hon Isaac Asiamah.
The former minister during his tenure enforced rigid measures to ensure budgets from the Ghana Football Association were adhered to, very often resulting in disputes between the sports ministry and the football association.
“I would be a citizen, an effective one and not a spectator”, Hon Nii Lante stated in his opening statement during an opportunity given him to question the minister designate.
Hon Asiamah in turn also made an official apology to the former minster, apologizing for harsh statements made against him during his tenure.
