Aduana Stars recorded a hard fought 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak on Matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
Bright Adjei’s solitary strike was enough to hand the Ogya lads all three points at the Nana Agyemang Badu stadium in Dormaa.
Hearts of Oak started the match brightly but were unable to unlock the home team’s defense.
The Phobians suffered a setback around the half hour mark when goalkeeper Richard Attah was stretched off injured and was replaced by Richmond Ayi.
On the stroke of half time, red-hot Bright Adjei broke the deadlock for the home team.
The 45th minute strike was the striker’s 13th goal of the season which brings him level on the scoring chart with Asante Kotoko forward Frank Etouga Mbella.
After the recess, the Phobians probed for the equalizer but Aduana managed to contain the defending champions.
The Ogya boys also came close to doubling their advantage on a number of occasions but were denied by the brilliance of Richmond Ayi.
In the end, they held on for the narrow win which snapped Hearts of Oak’s four-game unbeaten streak.
Aduana are second on standings with 36 points just five points behind Asante Kotoko who play Bibiani Gold Stars in the late kick off.
