Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah could miss Black Stars call-up for the crucial 2022 World Cup playoff games against Nigeria this month.
The shot-stopper was stretched off in tears against Aduana Stars on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League Matchday 20 encounter in Dormaa.
Attah appeared to have suffered a groin injury after just 32 minutes and was replaced by Richmond Ayi.
It is not yet quite clear the full extent of the injury but the player is expected to be assessed by the club doctors in the coming days.
Ghana is scheduled to host the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 25 with the reverse leg set for Abuja four days later.
It remains to be seen if the goalkeeper can be fit in time for the double header.
Although the Hearts of Oak goalie was only the fourth choice for the Black Stars at the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, he has been backed in recent weeks to be made the number one.
His absence will therefore be a major blow for Ghana who will be fighting for a ticket to represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
