Ghana Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko will eye a return to winning ways when they welcome Bibiani Gold Stars to the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
In the past week, the Porcupine Warriors have failed to win any of their 2 games. They lost to bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak in the President’s Cup and followed it up with a goalless draw away at Bechem United in the league.
Coach Prosper Narteh-Ogum will hope to end this winless run before it develops into a worrying situation for his side.
They can however feel positive about the game based on the fact that, it takes place at the Baba Yara Stadium.
In 10 home games, Kotoko have won 8, drawn 1 and lost the other, amassing an impressive 25 points.
They have won their last 5 games at home and will be eager to make Sunday’s guests their latest victims.
One player who has been central to this run is Cameroonian striker Franck Mbella Etouga. The skilled goal poacher has made known his predator instincts to many GPL sides netting 13 goals so far.
10 of those goals have come in Asante Kotoko’s last 5 home games and he will be eyeing adding to his goal tally when Gold Stars come to town.
Gold Stars are bad travelers as they have picked just 2 points on the road this campaign.
The league debutant have played 10 away games, drawing only 2 and losing 8.
They face an uphill task in taking something from this game and will need to play above themselves to ensure that.
One major issue for Coach Michael Osei to address is their defense especially in away games.
Out of the 21 goals conceded this season, 17 have come in away games, a statistic that will get the Asante Kotoko attackers licking their lips.
The Match will kick off at 6pm GMT and will be live on StarTimes Adepa Channel.
