Ghana Black Satellites skipper at the 1993 Under 20 World Cup in Australia, Ransford Banini has revealed reasons why he chose to play professional football in that country.

Banini who was a pillar at the back as Ghana won silver in the Australia 93 World Youth Championship was tipped for greatness but he chose to play his professional football in Australia despite series interest from big clubs in England and Netherlands.

The towering centre-back has come out after 25 years on the reasons why he decided to play in Australia rather than move to Europe.

“I had the chance to play in England and Australia but I choose Australia because of lifestyle and also the weather played a big part…but people tell me it was a wrong move. All what I will say is that it is not all about money sometimes” Banini told footballmadeinghana.com

“Also, I had the chance to play in the Netherlands and in Croatia but I did move,”

“I really fell in love with Australia after the youth championship” he added

Banini featured for then Mamprobi based colts club Saints FC in the 1980 where he was drafted straight into the Ghana National youth teams.

He featured for Melbourne Knights in the Australian Premier League and still lives in the country.
