Former Ghana international, Kevin-Prince Boateng has stated European-born Ghanaian players will only agree to play for the Black Stars only if it is attractive.
The Ghana Football Association has over the years struggled to get Ghanaians in the Diaspora to switch allegiance to Ghana.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tariq Lamptey, Brian Brobbey amongst other players are a few who have been in pursuit by the GFA and haven’t yielded any results.
Boateng, who represented Ghana at the 2010 World Cup after having switched allegiance from Germany stated the Black Stars must be made attractive if they want to attract players from the Diaspora.
“You have to make the team attractive for the players to want to play for Ghana. Ghana is one of the biggest countries in football and they have produced some of the world’s best players.,” Prince Boateng said during a Twitter Space.
“You have to make the players willing to come and play for their country and that comes with being successful and you can do that by winning games.”
“You have to let them know that you have the big stage because every player wants a bigger platform,” the former Barcelona, AC Milan, and Tottenham Hotspur forward concluded.
