The Black Stars are without a coach following the sacking of Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac who managed Ghana to their worst finish at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The media and the fans have wasted no time in mooting possible successors already with former Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Houghton gaining steam for the vacant position.
According to reports in the local media, the 63 year old has been in Ghana since last week as he inches closer to the national team job.
Houghton is a manager with plenty experience especially in the English Premier League, having had stints with Newcastle United, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, an inside source at the FA has disclosed to Footballmadeinghana that as things stand, nothing has been finalized.
In terms of potential replacements, it is clear that the GFA is also considering another tactician, Otto Addo.
The former Ghana international was recently appointed first assistant coach of Black Stars in September 2021.
But his busy schedule in his role as assistant coach of Bundesliga giants, Dortmund meant he was unable to show up to work with the team at the continental showpiece.
It is thought that Otto Addo is open to the move but only signed a new contract with his current club last the summer, so could have problems making the switch.
Should this prove too difficult, Black Stars B head coach Ibrahim Tanko is believed to be another candidate the FA is looking at for the job.
He worked as assistant to former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah between 2017 to 2019.
The Former Ghana international also previously worked as deputy coach of Cameroon national team, head coach of Black Meteors and served on several coaching capacities in Germany where he started his coaching career.
The Ghana FA is expected to name a new coach in February for the crucial 2022 World Cup play-offs against Nigeria in March.
