Ex Ghana youth star Awudu Issaka says the current Ghana U17 team lacks playmaking gem despite their heroics at the ongoing Africa U17 Championship.
The Black Starlets stormed into the semi finals of the competition – where Niger awaits – playing some sumptuous football and scoring lots of goals to emerge winners of Group A with 7 points.
Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s side’s attacking approach has yielded nine goals with none conceded to emerge one of the four teams to represent Africa at the World Cup later this year in India.
But Awudu Issaka who was Ghana’s livewire in his days when the Black Starlets conquered all before them to win the World Cup in 1995 struggles to point out a breakaway star cast in his mould in the current crop.
“The difference between our and these boys is that I was the main playmaker of the team but this team no playmaker,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.
Ghana will be looking to book its place in the finals when they face Niger on Wednesday in the first semi final clash in Port Gentil.
The other semi final tie is between Mali and Guinea.
