Struggling Wa All Stars will host tottering Asante Kotoko on match day nine of the Ghana Premier League in a potentially cagey encounter at the Malik Jabir Park. Both sides haven’t been in good form coming into the game and Wa All Stars will have their troubles deepened if they fail to win.
Wa All Stars have gone winless in their last four matches. Newly appointed Head Coach Sarfo Castro – formerly assistant trainer at Kotoko under Maxwell Konadu, has been on the lookout for his first win since taking over from sacked coach Sokpari.
The last time the Northern Blues won a game was on match day four. They beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0. They are currently at the bottom of the table. Only victory will offer hopes of redemption. On the other hand, Asante Kotoko need a win to get their season back on track.
The Porcupines lost away to Dreams FC on match day seven before drawing 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea in Kumasi. Paa Kwesi Fabin is yet to win a game away from home. He has lost three and drawn one of the four matches on the road. With Wa All Stars’ poor form, Paa Kwesi could capitalised on that to record Kotoko’s first away win.
Daniel Darkwah is fit again and should join the team for the trip. While Kwame Boahene and Sadick Adams are still on the sidelines. Kotoko are 7th position on the league log but are in the lead on the head-to-head all-time meetings with Wa All Stars. Of the total 19 matches, 10 have gone the way of Asante Kotoko while Wa All Stars have won just four with the remaining five ending in a draw.
