Former Hearts of Oak defender, Charles Vardis has been confirmed dead on Sunday at Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

Vardis, popularly known as ‘Mark Fish’ gave up the ghost this morning at the Tema General Hospital after battling short ailment.

The 35-year-old played for Hearts of Oak between 2004 to 2009 before traveling abroad to continue his career.

Vardis had a loan spell in 2008 at Israeli club Maccabi Herzliya FC.

He joined Hearts of Oak from Real Sportive and went on to play for New Edubiase United before hanging his boots.
