CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe is in Nigeria where he will attend the start of the Aisha Buhari Cup today, 15 September 2021.
Dr Motsepe, together with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick, will meet different stakeholders in Nigeria discussing advancement of football in Africa, in particular women’s football development.
The CAF President will be joined by FIFA President Gianni Infantino who will also attend the Aisha Buhari Cup.
Also in attendance is Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku and Mali FA President Mamoutou Toure.
Dubbed ‘Playing for Good’, the highly anticipated six nations tournament is been organized in honour of the First Lady of Nigeria, Dr. Aisha Buhari in conjunction with the Aisha Buhari Foundation and also to build and sustain positive narratives about Women football on the continent.
The Black Queens have been paired in Group B alongside South Africa’s Banyana Banyana and Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
While Group A includes host nation and Nine-time African champions, Super Falcons, Mali and Morocco.
The tournament will also be used by all participating teams to prepare for the pending Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.
