A member of the 3 member committee tasked for finding a substantial head coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, Dr. Randy Abbey has explained the need for the search to be completed in 72 hours.
The Ghana Football Association yesterday announced the termination of CK Akonnor’s contract as the head coach of the Black Stars and constituted a 3 member committee, which includes Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Dr. Randy Abbey, for finding a replacement.
The committee has been given a maximum of 72 hours to present their recommendations and while it appears to be a limited time, Dr. Randy Abbey believes the circumstances demand for a shorter period of search
Speaking on the Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV, Dr Randy admitted that while 72 hours was a short period for the search
“Ideally, you would want a longer period. But the circumstances does not support that.
“In three weeks, there is double header (against Zimbabwe). In another four weeks, there is South Africa and Ethiopia. This means that in seven weeks, the Stars will play four games…”
The Stars currently have three points after the opening games of the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers and will hope to bounce back when they play Zimbabwe next month.
