Barely 24 hours following news on the sacking of Charles Akonnor as Black Stars Head Coach, Ghanaians have taken to social media to express their opinions about the decision.
Akonnor, a former national captain had been under increasing pressure to resign by the public following a recent streak of unimpressive performances cum results.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back was a defeat to a transitional South African side in a FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifier.
The decision was taken to axe him on Monday evening following a careful study of technical reports from the Black Stars technical team and the team’s management committee.
His dismissal has been met with mixed reactions on social media.
Whereas some Ghanaians are relieved to see the back of the former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak Coach, others believe he didn’t enjoy the total support of his superiors hence making his work difficult from the onset.
Here are some of the views of Ghanaians below.
not a shocking news cos we all knew the FA will sack CK to save themselves
the problem is not CK and that is what Ghanaians need to know and understand
if we donโt do proper development and invest in our football we will continue to sack and sack but will never get results
