Ghana coach C.K. Akonnor has named an attacking line up to face South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifier with Fatawu Mohammed and Majeed Ashmeru making their debuts.

The Hearts of Oak captain has been handed the arduous task of starting the game in the absence of regular Andy Yiadom who could not travel to South Africa due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Anderlecht star Majeed Ashmeru has also been handed his first Ghana start following massive media outcry for his inclusion in the team.

Skipper Andre Ayew will lead the team that will have Richard Ofori in post in a familiar territory.

Gideon Mensah has returned into the side after being on the bench due to the presence of experienced Chelsea left back Baba Rahman.

Jonathan Mnesah will for the first time in two years start a Ghana game as he pairs Alexander Djiku at the heart of defence.

Emmanuel Lomotey has been handed a start as he pairs Mubarak Wakaso and Majeed Ashmeru in a midfield trio.

Yaw Yeboah will play from the right with Joel Fameyeh playing from the left while the skipper leads the team.
