Head coach of Ghana Black Stars, Charles Kwablan Akunnor say this is the time for Ghana to return to the FIFA World Cup after missing out in the last edition in Russia.
The Black Stars will begin their quest for ticket to Qatar by hosting Ethiopia on Friday September 3, 2021 at the Cape Coast stadium.
Coach Charles Akonnor says his lads will put up a better fight to qualify for the World Cup which will be hosted by Qatar.
“We know all the teams. South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia will do their bit to get there [Qatar]. But we will put in hard work and we know that hard work pays”. Akonnor told the media ahead of the game against Ethiopia.
“The last [World Cup] we went to was in Brazil. We didn’t qualify for the last one. And we are hoping and believing that this is the time for us to be back there.”
The four times Africa Cup of Nation’s winners failed to make it to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but are highly optimistic of returning to the biggest football mundial in 2022.
