Ghana captain Andre Ayew, says the Black Stars are ready make the nation proud ahead of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier opener against Ethiopia on Friday.
The Al Sadd forward believes that the team has had enough preparation since Monday and he is optimistic of getting a victory against at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Speaking to the media on Thursday ahead of the game, Ayew underlined the importance of starting the campaign with a win.
“Yes training has been very good since Monday, I could see that, There’s a very good team spirit, a lot of competition and a lot of talent, so we cooperate and assure that the players, who are going to represent the nation are all ready to make the nation proud”. He told the media at the pre-match conference.
“It’s a marathon game, we’re playing six matches in our group but we make sure to win tomorrow’s game. ‘I know that the players are ready.
The former Swansea City attacker also spoke about the young players in the team.
“We have a lot of young players in the squad that’s why we also have senior players to guide them, like the way senior players guided me in the past to show them the way. Because Black Stars is not for anyone, I will be here today and I will be here for long but I will leave one day and people have to be ready to take over soon. To be frank, the boys who are here are very talented, good players and need time to succeed so I believe that, with patient and hunger they will be able to succeed” He added.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 19: 00 GMT at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday.
