Accra Lions Football Club have secured a historic qualification to the Ghana Premier League after an impressive run in the Division One League in Zone 3 with a game to end the season.
With the last round of matches in Zone 3 coming to an end on Sunday, the Blue and Whites lashed Danbort FC 3-1 in the penultimate game of the season at the Zimmerman Presby Park in Accra.
A brace from Dominic Nsobila and one from Oliver Amedor gave the visitors the massive win over their opponents to seal their qualification to the Premier League.
Nsobila broke the virginity of the game after 29 minutes with a brilliant finish to set the tone for a humbling afternoon for their opponents.
Four minutes after the break, former skipper of the side, Oliver Amedor ibcrwaeed the tally to 2-0 before Nsobila added his second, and the third for his aide to leave the scoring 3-0 after regulation time.
Danbort FC pulled a consolation in additional time but that was too little to late to set the tone for a miraculous comeback.
Accra Lions then become the representative of Zone 3 in the Ghana Premier League next season.
The newly promoted side who will be making their maidens appearance in the Ghana Premier League comes on the back of 59 points accumulation with 57 goals to their credit.
The qualification of the Accra-based side is historically incredible with the qualification coming in their maiden season in a completed football season.
The young side is expected to make a positive impact in the Ghana Premier League which could starting September.
