Former Ghana International now turned Coach Ibrahim Tanko has once again popped up on the radar of Asante Kotoko.
The Porcupine Warriors have started to put together a list of options to replace out of favor Mariano Barreto as Head coach if the inevitable occurs. Barreto is currently walking a tight rope at Kotoko after failing to achieve the seasonal target of winning the league title.
More so, the Portuguese has overseen cases of player insubordination during his tenure. As situations do not show any sign of immediate improvement, the Kotoko hierarchy are starting to plan the future without him.
In carving the path forward, they have drawn up a list of suitable candidates to take over in the absence of Barreto.
Among them is Ibrahim Tanko who has been linked with Asante Kotoko in the past. Tanko, who has had stints with Cameroon, Ghana’s Black Stars and Black Meteors is seen an a favorable option due to his clout and technical and tactical nous.
The Coach’s camp have not yet reacted to this news while nothing official has emrreged from Kotoko’s camp yet.
The ensuing days or weeks will prove who blinks first and make the first move.
