Following the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to hand a 5-year ban to Phar Rangers, Tema Youth’s goal of securing a return to the Premier League next season has been handed a massive boost.
Tema Youth have been absent from Ghana’s top division since their relegation in 2017, and have been poised to ensure a return.
They have been one of the best teams in zone 3 of the Division one and could now be handed a huge boost in their pursuit to participate in the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Per the ruling of the disciplinary committee, all matches to be played against Phar Rangers must be declared won by the opponents, meaning that Tema Youth will now be handed 3 points.
This will increase their points tally to 52 points and consequently take them above Accra Lions who are currently on 50 points.
Phar Rangers were handed the punishment by the DC after their initial decision to withdraw from all GFA organized football activities violated the Association’s rules and regulations.
Despite attempts by the club to rescind the earlier withdrawal letter, it proved too little too late with processes to grant their request already initiated by the GFA.
After the Disciplinary Committee heard the charges brought against the club, it took a decision to ban it from operating for five years.
