Ghana and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has revealed the reason behind the change of his jersey number at Arsenal

The 27-year-old opted to change from the number 18 shirt to number 5 as the Gunners announced their new squad numbers for the upcoming season.

According to Partey, the number 5 is his lucky number and it was a no-brainer for him to make the switch.

“I like the No 5 because it’s one of the most important numbers in the team and it is also a lucky number for me,” he told Arsenal.com.

“It’s the number I’ve worn for the past few years, so for me, it’s one of the best numbers.”
