Former Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Eric Nyarko has advised the current crop of players to approach Sunday’s clash with Asante Kotoko with a positive mindset.
Hearts of Oak will face-off against bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko this weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium. Both sides occupy the top two positions on the league table on 56 points, although Hearts lead by virtue of a superior goal difference.
This makes Sunday’s game all important considering the potential it has to decide who wins the league title with 3 matches to go in the game’s aftermath.
Eric Nyarko excelled during his time with the Phobians, particularly playing a crucial role in the 2003 CAF Confederation Cup triumph over Asante Kotoko.
During his time, Hearts Of Oak’s then Mr Versatile, explains he often saw games against Kotoko as a make or break affair.
According to him, the Hearts vs Kotoko clashes have the potential to heal the sick or ruin a life, hence his advice to the current crop of players to approach the game on Sunday with such a mentality.
“Kotoko versus Hearts games have the potential to heal the sick and also can also kill someone. So as a player, you have to have this in mind that you’re going all out to play to heal the sick. In this case you solely focus on the game and forget about everything else,” Nyarko told Peace FM in an interview.
“My advise to the players is that they should have it in mind that they are going out there to play to heal the sick. With such a mindset, it will be easy for them to win,” he added.
The game kicks off at exactly 3PM GMT.
