Former Black Meteors assistant coach Michael Osei has attributed the team’s humiliating performances in the four friendlies to a lack of preparation.
As a means of preparing for All African Games, Coach Fabin Paa Kweis Fabin and his assistant Yusif Basigi took the national U-23 side to Asia for friendly games against Japan and South Korea.
After suffering a 6-0 defeat in the first game against Japan, the Meteors went on to concede another 4 against the same opponents few days.
They were unable to redeem their battered image in the other two fixtures, as they lost to South Korea.
Speaking to Happy FM, Michael Osei said:
“If you look at the previous team we built with Ibrahim Tanko, it was a solid team. We had time to search for the players with the quality to play. Looking at the team we took to Egypt we couldn’t even get the squad that played the qualifiers but we had a good team.
“What happened clearly showed the coach and the players were not ready so it was going to be difficult for the whole team”.
