Black Meteors Management Committee Chairman Frederick Acheampong has revealed Ghana will not receive any financial benefit from the two international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
The national U-23 side will engage the two Asian countries in international friendlies as part of preparations for the 2023 African Games.
The Black Meteors team played the first friendly against Japan in which they lost 10-0 on aggregate after the two legs leading to a lot of serious backlash after that humiliating defeat by the host of the 2020 Olympic Games.
According to Frederick Acheampong, the motive behind the friendly is to build a team capable of winning a medal at the 2023 African Games and future Olympic tournaments.
The GFA Executive Committee member also revealed the friendly games come at no cost to the Ghana Football Association.
“We are not getting any money from this friendly. They are paying for all our expenses and the cost around the match.”
The players too are getting the exposure and experience. It’s not all the friendly matches that we get money”, he told Happy FM.
The Black Meteors will play another two friendly games against South Korea.
