Ghana and Strasbourg striker Abdul Majeed Waris has found his into the hearts of several people in his hometown, Tamale, after funding the construction of several roads in his community.
Humble and always having his community at heart, the one time Sweden Premier League top scorer has always gotten the urge to help in the development of the community that made him who he is.
With his Majeed Waris Foundation, the philanthropist has helped his community on numerous occasions and the recent donation he made was the distribution of items during the month of Ramadan to some natives of Lamashegu in the Northern Region of Ghana.
Today, the Strasbourg F.C player is funding the grading and asphalting of the main road in Lamashegu, Tamale after natives and users bitterly complained about the poor nature of the road.
The road connecting Lamashegu, Nyohani and Sagnarigu has been in deplorable state for several months.
The situation is affecting vehicular movements with large potholes and stagnant water destroying parts of the stretch, amidst the spread of mosquitoes.
Residents of the area revealed that the situation has resulted in several road accidents involving cargo and passenger vehicles plying the route.
A mechanic, Master Karim operating near the NDA warehouse told TamaleOnline News series of accidents have been recorded due to the bad nature of the road.
“Several trucks have somersaulted due to the bad nature of the road,” he recounted.
Hundreds of long vehicles and other passenger buses traveling from the southern part of the country to Bolga, Bawku, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger etc are compelled to use the link road due to the ongoing construction works.
Waris’ philanthropism goes beyond just providing food items and financial assistance for people during the month of Ramadan as he annually provides customized exercise books to over 5000 pupils.
