The Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Bernhard Lippert says he’s impressed by the performance of Abdul Ismail Ganiyu while on national team duty and wants more time for other local players.
Bernhard Lippert impressed with Ganiyu
The Asante Kotoko center-back was in action as Ghana climaxed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with games against South Africa and Sao Tome & Principe.
Ganiyu made his debut for the Black Stars in a 1-1 draw away in Johannesburg against the Bafana Bafana last Thursday. His displays earned him much plaudits from various connoisseurs of the game.
The player was offered another start on Sunday as Ghana cruised to a 3-1 win over Sao Tome and once again Gabe a very good account of himself.
His performances in the two games have not gone unnoticed and the latest to commend him is the GFA Technical Director Bernhard Lippert.
“I can assess Ganiyu he made very good two matches,” Lippert said in the aftermath of the Sao Tome win.
The Technical Director aside praising Ganiyu for his exploits has also put in a case for local players to have more time to prove their worth in national colors.
He believes apart from Ismail Ganiyu, the rest didn’t have much time to justify themselves as worthy of future Black Stars assignments.
“They showed very good performance. Today is not enough to judge them… the rest did not have enough time,” he concluded.
