The Ghana Football Association’s Club Licensing Board has given the greenlight to Asante Kotoko to host league games at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi, FMIG can report.
The development means the Porcupine Warriors will play their home matches at the venue when the second round of the ongoing Ghana Premier League season commences.
Due to renovation works at the Baba Yara stadium, Kotoko were unable to use their traditional venue. The side had to eventually play home games at the Accra Sports Stadium during the first round.
However, after assessing cost and distance covered to play there, the club took a decision to switch venue to a location closer to the base in Kumasi.
The decision to switch also follows concerns raised by the club’s fans who argue that continuing to play in Accra could see their title charge suffer a blow.
Management of the club therefore chose the Len Clay Sports Stadium at Obuasi which is the home of fellow premier league side AshantiGold SC to use as their new makeshift home venue.
Division One League side Asokwa Deportivo also use the venue for their home matches.
