Elmina Sharks FC are to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association during its sitting on this week.
The Disciplinary Committee shall have its sitting on Thursday February 24 & Friday February 25 and among the cases to be heard is one of Elmina Sharks.
The Ghana Premier League side have been charged with misconduct after fans engaged in barbaric acts during a league game with Medeama SC on Sunday.
Fans of Elmina Sharks who in the first place were not supposed to be allowed access to the venue due to a GFA directive took the law into their hands to launch an assault on match referee Eric Owusu Prempeh for what they claim as unfair officiating.
This is not the first time such an incident is happening involving Elmina Sharks beating a referee. In 2018 they beat up Referee Yakubu Nuhu Liman after a league game against Medeama SC.
They are likely to be charged for the assault on the referee and also for flouting the Ghana FA’s directive to stop fans from attending match venues due to Covid-19.
