Former Ghana international Ibrahim Tanko has rejected the Hearts of Oak coaching job, Footballmadeinghana.com can exclusively report.
The Black Stars B Coach was approached by the Hearts board to take over the role which had been left vacant following the shocking exit of Kosta Papic.
Papic quit as Hearts Head Coach on Tuesday citing various reasons. To fill the vacuum created by his departure, the club’s board contacted Tanko about taking over.
The former Cameroon assistant coach then enquired from the Hearts board the reason(s) behind Papic’ decision to leave the role.
After getting the board’s response, Tanko then contacted Papic to hear his version of events.
In their engagement, Papic mentioned interference from the board and some internal wranglings as major reasons for quitting.
Juxtaposing that with what the board told him, Tanko eventually decided against joining the club stressing that what’s happened to Kosta Papic could befall him too.
The decision of Ibrahim Tanko leaves Hearts of Oak in a perilous state as they desperately seek a new Coach with the season ticking away.
