Questions are being asked by some Kotoko fans as to why their Management failed to re-engage two of their experienced central backs, Abeiku Ainooson and Awal Mohammed particularly in a year that they have an Africa campaign.
The two players completed their switch to Al-Fahaheel in Kuwait in a move that will see the Porcupine Warriors earning nothing despite giving the two players huge platforms in the last couple of years.
Awal and Abeiku both signed two-year contracts with the Kuwaiti outfit after medicals.
Abeiku Ainooson was released by Kotoko after his contract expired although he had a successful loan spell at Ashgold last season.
Abeiku has had stints at Sudanese side, Al Hilal; Dreams FC and Ashgold in the last his four years.
Why the Dr. Kyei-led Management didn’t tie him and Awal Mohammed down for Kotoko’s Confederation Cup campaign baffles many of the fans who have been calling into radio sports programmes and also commenting on various social media platforms.
For Awal Mohammed, his contract with Kotoko also run out this year and again, the Management couldn’t agree on terms with the player. He moved as a free agent.
