High flying Accra Lions continued their exhilarating performance on Sunday at the Sogakope Arena, recording a 4-0 away win over Agbozume Weavers to cement their position on top of the Zone 1 table in the Division One League.
The visitors made their intentions known early into their day 2 fixture against Agbozume Weavers, with Evans Ampofo opening the scoring on the 3rd minute, connecting a brilliant cross from the right to beat the stacked goalie.
Richard Tetteh increased their lead 9 minutes later, making it 2-0. Weavers made One substitution which stabilized the game though the visitors were having majority of the ball possession.
Richard got his brace on the 37th minute and a 3rd for Accra Lions to rubber stamp their dominance in the game.
Weavers entered into the dressing room at half time a completely dejected team.
Just like the first half, the visitors continued from where they left off with various counter attacking football and on the 48 minutes, Kelvin Kyei put the icing on the cake. A solo effort completed the ruthless riot of the home side earning the 4th goal for Accra Lions.
The win makes it 2 out of 2 for Accra Lions whiles Weavers keep struggling with their second defeat in two games. Alexander Agyarkwa Ameyaw was named MVP after the game.
Elsewhere, Vision FC were held to a 2-2 drawn game by visiting Krystal Palace. The Away team coming from a losing note registered the first goal of the game on the 22rd minutes to send shivers down the spine of the host. Vision responded fiercely on the 30th minute through Wilson Kwabena Owusu to pull parity. Karim Mohammed quickly put the host ahead a minute later.
It became a swing encounter with both teams exploiting their goal scoring abilities. Vision FC enjoyed the lion’s share of the game and it looked like they were about to record their first win of the season, Kojo Atorsah broke their heart as he scored a decisive goal on the 86th minutes to draw Krystal Palace levelled at 2-2. The MVP went to Abubakar Suleiman.
At Mampong, Phar Rangers recorded a resounding win at home against Nania FC. The home team coming from a victory in their previous away game proved their superiority over the visiting team. Abdul Aziz Dogo opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute to signal their intent. Talisman Samuel Atta Kumi increased on the 6th minute for the home team to take their tally to 2-0. Nania had some descent chances to reduce the deficit but all efforts went wide. On the 37th minute, Samuel Atta Kumi got his double to cement the lead as the teams zoom into recess. The second department of the game did not produce any goal. The win gives Phar Rangers 6 points out of 2 matches.
Elsewhere, Accra Young Wise produced a massive display, dispatching Tudu Mighty Jets by 2-0. Abdul Karim Fuseini scored on the 6th minute to give joy to the teaming fans at the stadium. The lead was however extended by Stephen Baffour on the 30th minute. The win becomes the first for Accra Young Wise this season. Obed Wiredu was adjudged the MVP
The Sly Tetteh Park saw a battle between two giants. Okyeman Planners were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Tema Youth. Tema Youth however finished the game with 10 men after Ibrahim Usif was shown a second yellow card.
At the Ghanaman Center Of Excellence, a penalty scored by Samuel Baah gave visiting team Kpando Heart of Lions all maximum points against Uncle T. The 1-0 victory gives Lions 2 wins out of 2 games this season. Uncle T however remain winless this season.
In Accra, Accra City’s quest to record their first win of the season was dealt a big blow as visiting team Kotoku Royals held them to a 1-1 drawn game. Sadat Mohammed scored for the home team as Richard Dziko also scored for the visitors. Kotoku Royals scored a 5th minute penalty and Sadat Mohammed equalized for Accra City Stars on the 77th minute. The game failed to live up to the match day expectations.
Amidaus Professionals failed to show up for the game against Danbort FC, forcing the match officials to call off the game. Danbort have been declared winners with 3 points and 3 goals.
