AshantiGold SC defender, Kwadwo Amoako has asked the club’s fans to pray for the team to have good fortunes in the 2020-21 season.
It has been predicted that the Miners will have quite a tough campaign after losing out on several key players in their squad.
Top goalkeeper Frank Boateng has left for Medeama SC. Defender Yusif Mubarik and influential midfielder Latif Anabila have also left for Asante Kotoko. Midfield combatant James Akaminko and top striker cum leader Shafiu Mumuni have also left the club during the transfer window.
The team has been bolstered with new players who many believe will need time to settle.
The three-time national champions drew their first league game 2-2 with Karela United at home and next face Hearts of Oak on Tuesday November 24 in Accra.
Kwadwo Amoako missed the first game as he was on assignment with the Black Stars of Ghana. His return is expected to improve the team’s morale and chances as they approach the Hearts game.
Speaking during training, Amoako has stressed the need for luck and has urged supporters to pray for the club to have good fortunes present in their fold as the season goes on.
“Whenever they go on their knees in prayer, they should remember the team. They should pray for the team.If you don’t have luck in football, whatever you do won’t succeed. So they should always pray for us,” Amoako told Kessben FM in Kumasi.
Aside competing in the Ghana Premier League and other local competitions, AshGold will also play in the CAF Confederations Cup.
They have a date next weekend against Burkinabe side Salitas FC.
