Medeama SC will lock horns with Great Olympics in their opening game of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
The two-time FA Cup champions host Oly Dade at the Akoon Park on Sunday November 15, 2020 – the same venue the visitors lost 1-0 last season.
The Mauve and Yellows will be without midfield trio Kwasi Donsu, Agyei Boakye and Rashid Nortey.
Donsu is down with a thigh problem while Boakye has suffered a dislocated elbow after picking up the setback during the side’s 2-0 pre-season defeat against Karela United last weekend.
Midfielder Rashid Nortey has been knocked down with a bout of malaria and will miss the match against the Accra-based side.
But coach Samuel Boadu will not be short of options with Eric Kwakwa, Justice Blay, Richard Boadu and Kwadwo Asamoah all available for selection.
Meanwhile Olympics coach Anor Walker will be aiming to cause a major upset on the opening weekend.
The gaffer has bolstered his squad with the signing of eight new players including Ebenezer Sekyere, Charles Danso Otu, Mannan Mudasiru, Michael Otoo, Karim Alhassan, Alhassan Sunday, Mujeeb Hakeem, and Arnold Mensah Abbey.
However, Olympics will rely heavily on the mercurial Gladson Awako to pull the strings in the middle of the park.
Many believe the club’s ambition this season will live or die on the former Phoenix Rising Star.
