Ghana U20 manager Karim Zito has rubbished reports that Yusif Chibsah had secretly taken away Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim from the Satellites camp without the notice of his club, insisting the reports are false.
Zito claims the goalkeeper went home for his passport and returned to the team’s camp in Prampram just a day after his departure.
Reports that the former Asante Kotoko skipper, Chibsah, had ‘stolen’ the player from camp popped up in the media but the head coach of the side insists they are unfair to the young FIFA Intermediary.
Speaking to footballmadeinghana.com, Coach Zito rubbished the reports and called for accuracy.
“That’s never true,” he said.
“Chibsah never came here for the player. I gave him permission to go for his passports,” Coach Zito said.
“The player sent his passport to his club (Asante Kotoko) because they were told they will be going to Dubai for preseason. And so when we needed it, we had to ask for it back.
“Unfortunately, the passport was not forthcoming after the player had authorised Chibsah to pick it on his behalf. So it became necessary to allow the player to go there and pick it himself since that was the only option,” Zito added.
He ended by saying the player returned to camp a day after he left and is currently in camp contrary to reports that he is out of camp.
“As we are talking now, the player is in camp. He came back just a day after he left,” he clarified.
The Ghana U20 side will be traveling to Togo for the WAFU ZONE B U20 Tournament set to start this month.
