On today’s episode of FootballMadeInGhana’s know your coaches, we take a look at a brief profile of Elmina Sharks coach Joachim Yaw Acheampong.
The experienced tactician has been in charge of the ‘Sea Animals’ since 2017.
He has had previous coaching experience in the Ghanaian top flight division with AshantiGold SC, Inter Allies FC and Accra Great Olympics.
Yaw Acheampong is hugely credited with the transformation of AshGold after taking over from Dzravko Lugarosic who nearly sent the club to relegation.
He was later appointed by his former club Great Olympics as the head coach where he was hugely influential in the clus’s renaissance before he was poached by Inter Allies.
The gaffer is a Ghanaian football legend and was part of the Olympic team who won the bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
He played as a midfielder and featured in five of six games in the tournament.
Yaw gained 18 caps with the Black Stars, during five a year-stint. He appeared in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments with the senior national team.
