Asamoah Gyan has become Legon Cities record signing after joining them for a fee of $150k.
That deal also means the Black Stars general captain is now the most expensive player in the history of Ghana Premier League history.
Gyan breaks the record which was previously held by Alex Asamoah.
Asante Kotoko broke the bank in the 2008/2009 season to sign Alex Asamoah from Ashantigold for a region of ¢200k.
The transfer put him ahead of Charles Taylor whose transfer to Kotoko was the most expensive at that time.
Asamoah proved his worth in the fold of the Porcupine Warriors by winning the Ghana Premier League Goal king award in 2009 with 17 goals.
Taylor’s move from Accra Hearts of Oak to Kumasi Asante Kotoko is one of the controversial transfer’s in Ghanaian local football over the past one and half decades.
The playmaker who is arguably the best footballer the Ghana Premiership have seen over the past two decades helped the Porcupine Warriors to lift the League title in 2003.
He was also instrumental as the Fabulous club reached the finals of the maiden edition of the CAF Confederations Cup during the 2004/2005 season where they lost to his former side Accra Hearts of Oak on penalties.
