Iconic Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan will officially have his status as a Legon Cities FC player confirmed on Sunday, October 25.
Mega-rich Legon Cities FC outsmarted Ghanaian footy giants Asante Kotoko to the signature of Gyan, who per FMiG checks is making a big money move.
Gyan, Ghana’s all time top scorer has joined the Accra based Ghana Premier League side as part of a deal that is reportedly worth $1million.
The former Sunderland striker will be a huge presence on the field while his off-field clout will also fuel the club’s drive to become a commercial success.
Asamoah Gyan has been without a club ever since early this year after injury cut short his stay at Indian outfit NorthEast United.
The 33 year old last played in the Ghana Premier League in the early 2000’s when he represented Liberty Professionals.
In his only season in Ghana’s top flight, the then 17 year old notched 10 goals to come third in the scorer’s chart.
Gyan’s entry onto the local scene is expected to win back much following for a terrain that is trying to get back on its feet after recent developments have plunged the game deep into the abyss.
Legon Cities hinted on his announcement via their Twitter feed with this post.
