Legendary Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Anthony Osei Kwadwo has advised the club’s senior goalie and captain Felix Annan to act as a professional amid seeming tensions between him and current head coach Maxwell Konadu.
Annan has embarked on several media campaigns to complain about his displeasure at losing his number 1 spot to Kwame Baah.
The situation arose when Annan in the early stages of the 2019-20 season sought permission to be given time off to marry. In his absence, Kwame Baah stepped in and delievered to expectations, which meant he kept the post even after Annan had returned to training after his marriage.
Felix Annan didn’t take the situation lightly and mounted almost every available media platform to make public his grievances.
Well, the situation looks to have worsened now after Asante Kotoko announced the capture of Ghana goalkeeper Razak Abalora. The arrival of the former WAFA and Azam FC shot-stopper will bring added competition to the club’s goalkeeping department leading many to assume this could create problems for the club.
However, Osei Kwadwo who encountered stiffer competition during his time with Asante Kotoko and the national U-23 side wants Felix Annan to tackle issues with much professionalism.
“Felix is my boy, I love him, he should act as a professional,” Osei Kwadwo told Kumasi based Silver FM in an interview.
In all of Felix Annan’s interviews, the impression has beenncreated as if he is disliked by the Coach, something Osei Kwadwo disagrees.
“He should halt the media interviews and work with the coach. The coach doesn’t hate him, he likes him.
“I encountered same at the Black Meteors, Coach Paha told me he will sack me, I didn’t give up. When Sam Arday came I became number 1. If I had done something against Coach Paha, I wouldn’t have been able to work with him when I moved to Obuasi Goldfields,” he said.
Osei Kwadwo has also advised the current crop of goalkeepers at Asante Kotoko to act as professionals.
“The advise I will offer the three goalkeepers is to be professionals.
“Being professional here means they have to learn fast, if you make a mistake, you quickly take note and correct yourself,” he concluded.
