Former Ghana goalkeeper Abukari Damba has hailed the management of Kotoko for strengthening their goalkeeping department following the signing of Razak Abalora.
According to the ex RTU goalkeeper, goalkeeping is for specialist and he agrees with the club for signing another one to provide competition for those already there.
Despite the availability of Kwame Baah, Felix Annan, Danlad Ibrahim and Osei Kwame, the club yesterday announced the signing of the ex Azam FC goalkeeper ahead of the coming season.
The signing of Abalora has generated a lot of furore with people describing it as needless due the availability of the four keepers.
But Damba who was once the goalkeepers trainer for Ghana National team played down the talks insisting the club the best decision.
“You can’t always depend on one goalkeeper. Asante Kotoko are having three very good goalkeepers in all aspects.” He said in an interview on Max FM.
“Asante Kotoko has gained my respect for the assembly of these excellent goalkeeper.
“They are looking at the department and not the personalities, the goalkeeping position is for specialist and I can see Asante Kotoko according it the necessary importance,” he added.
