Two clubs in the Ghana Women’s Premier League Northern Ladies and Fabulous Ladies have secured for themselves buses with the financial assistance they had from the FIFA/CAF COVID-19 Relief Fund.
It is unclear whether the two clubs used their entire share of the $10k received from the first trench of the funds to procure the buses but the two sides have certainly taken decisions to mitigate their travel burdens.
Both sides have bought for themselves a 30-seater Toyota Civilian Bus each ahead of the upcoming season.
Following an allocation of $500k to women’s football by FIFA, the Ghana FA has paid each women’s Premier League club an amount of $10k after receiving the first trench of the funds from the world football governing body.
Northern Ladies are one of the most travelled female football clubs in the elite division considering their location in the northern part of Ghana.
Fabulous Ladies, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have also secured for themselves the same bus, an indication of a judicious use of the funds.
Transportation cost has always been a huge burden for many clubs, both in the men’s and women’s divisions and this gesture of procuring buses with the funds has greatly been hailed by all.
The Women’s Premier League is set to start in December this year.
