Veteran goalkeepers’ trainer Najau Issah Laskaya is set to join the technical team of Asante Kotoko ahead of the upcoming season, footballmadeinghana.com can exclusively reveal.
The experienced trainer who is currently with Legon Cities FC is believed to have agreed a long term deal with the Porcupine Warriors as they look to strengthen their technical team.
Insiders say the former Wa All Stars shot stopper has been a long term target of Coach Maxwell Konadu since he took over the coaching job of Kotoko from Manuel Zacheriessen.
Maxwell who worked with Najau on the technical team of the Black Star B is convinced by the work ethics and professionalism of young but experienced trainer hence his decision to have him at Kotoko.
Najau will be joining the Porcupine Warriors after the Black Star’s friendly encounter with the Eagles of Mali in Turkey next month.
The arrival of Najau means Joe Baah and Sampson Appiah will no longer be the goalkeepers’ trainers of Asante Kotoko with Baah likely to be relocated to the junior side as their goalkeeper’s trainer.
Najau has previously handled Wa All Stars, Black Queen’s, Black Maidens, Black Princesses and the Black Star B as their goalkeepers’ trainer and is currently the goalkeepers’ trainer for senior national team – the Black Star.
