Communications Director of Ashanti Gold SC Eric Karikari says the club’s target for the forthcoming CAF Confederation Cup is to reach the group stage.
The Obuasi based club was very consistent in the CAF Champions League in the early 2000s and lost narrowly to Raja Casablanca in 1997.
They have since struggled to make an impact in the CAF Inter Continental competition.
Despite been eliminated in the first round last year, the Miners have set reaching the money zone in next year’s campaign.
“AshantiGold is ever ready to compete with the big boys on the continent. Our target for the Africa cup campaign is to qualify for the group stage (Money Zone), Karikari told OTEC Fm
“We have players who are ready and hungry for success, they are willing to fight for the team” He added.
The Ghanaian representative, were eleminated by RS Berkane of Morocco last season and have parted ways with five players in their attempt to boost their squad ahead of this year’s CAF confederation cup.
