Ghana Premier League side Ashantigold SC, Communications officer Eric Karikari has disclosed that the current owners of the club have plans to restructure their academy system in the coming weeks.
The Obuasi based club had one of the best football academies in Africa that provided exceptional talents that rose to become national team players and represents the country at the highest level.
However things have changed now at the club, the four-times Ghanaian champions are gradually losing their trademark of nurturing talents from their academy but instead spend much to bring players at the club.
But speaking to Otec FM in Kumasi, the bew communication director of the club disclosed the current management have plans to restructure the academy system of the club.
“We at AshantiGold are looking forward to reigniting the academy department of our club,”
“Our new project and direction is to build a formidable squad by blending experienced players with the youth players that will graduate from the academy”
“We have tasked our technical team to monitor and scouts players from all levels of the inter-schools football competitions in and around the Obuasi municipality” He concluded
The AshantiGold academy produced the likes of Kofi Amoako, Sadick Adams, Jonathan Mensah Nana Arhin Duah and Opoku Agyemang, etc.
