Legendary Accra Hearts of Oak striker Emmanuel Osei Kuffour has been narrating how effective ‘fasting and prayer’ sessions helped the club to win their first and only CAF Champions league title.

The year was in 2000, and Hearts had assembled arguably the best squad seen in Ghanaian club football.

Before then, the team had suffered eliminations in their last two previous CAF Champions League campaigns, although they had won back to back domestic league titles.

With much experience, the side led by the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio went on a streak that saw them lose just a game in the entire campaign.

Hearts of Oak demonstrated sheer dominance to usurp all opponents encountered en route to winning what crowned them as the continent’s best team.

In the final, they came up against Tunisian giants Esperance Sportive de Tunis; with the Ghanaian club overpowering their opponents in both home and away legs.

This crowned Hearts as African Champions and cemented their legacy as one of the greats.

In an interview with Revolt GH TV, Osei Kuffour who is currently based I the USA has revealed that the team led by then skipper Amankwah Mireku had to invoke divine assistance to make this possible.
