Veteran football administrator Kofi Manu has taken a swipe at Aduana Stars supporters describing their actions as disgraceful.
The supporters of the club released a statement expressing their disgust about the decision of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to allow Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold to represent Ghana at the next CAF inter-club Competitions.
In their statement, the supporters claimed the Normalisation Committee’s special competition that allowed both clubs to represent the country in the 2019 CAF inter-club competitions was not an official tournament of the FA, that should warrant same clubs representing the Association in the same Competition.
The Supporters opined that , since Aduana Stars are the last team to win the Ghana Premier League, they should be the club to represent Ghana in the CAF inter-clubs competition.
But in an interview with Happy FM on the issue, Director of the club Kofi Manu who is an expert in Ghana football statues and regulations described the supporters statement as disgraceful.
“I was really sad when I heard that our own supporters wrote a letter to the GFA expressing their displeasure about Kotoko and AshantiGold representing Ghana in CAF.
“These supporters are disgracing Aduana stars. A club that I am a part of disgracing us like this is bad. Even the regulations they quoted are against them,” he bemoaned.
“If we are to go by their letter and argument, then no club can go to Africa not even Aduana Stars. How can you write a letter without understanding it to disgrace the club?
Kofi Manu also questioned why the supporters took that action without consulting him.
“A whole me, Kofi Manu, a club that I am a director of can write such a letter and will not even contact me. This is just shameful.
“We can’t declare any club as a leading club on the table because we have not finished our first round. Clubs haven’t played the same number of games so they’re not equal and we can’t use that,” he added.
